"ESB at centre of Sligo's
economic and social life" The official opening of the new Divisional Headquarters for ESB Networks at Cranmore, Sligo, was carried out by Mayor of Sligo, Rosaleen O'Grady, on Monday April 10th. The Cranmore Headquarters will act as base for some 130 ESB Networks staff and also services approximately 100 contractor staff. The new headquarters, which cost €2.7M to develop, will service 250,000 ESB Networks customers throughout the North West Division. The Division is one of seven ESB Divisions nationally and covers Counties Sligo, Donegal, Leitrim, North Mayo, Roscommon, Longford, Cavan and Monaghan. Approximately half the staff based at Cranmore HQ will be involved in customer service activities such as new connections, network alterations, fault & emergency repair services, metering and customer complaint resolution. The remainder of staff will be engaged in network infrastructural improvement projects such as refurbishment of all rural network, new/increased substation capacity and planned maintenance and inspection programmes. Executive Director ESB Networks, John Shine, speaking at the opening, complimented the team involved and said it wouldn't have succeeded without a lot of planning and hard work with an input from everyone involved. "The fruits of that input can be seen here today with a state-of-the art premises which can meet everyone's requirements. There was a very big involvement of all of the staff across the board here with Jimmy Mannion involved on a daily basis making sure this project happened. It is a great platform for ESB Networks to face the challenges on us as an entity working here in this region," he said. Mayor Rosaleen O'Grady outlined ESB's association with Sligo dating back from the 50's. "As a major public utility, ESB has been one of Sligo's main employers over the years and has been at the centre of economic and social life of our community. While generations of staff have come and gone, one factor that has remained constant is ESB's reputation for reliability and professionalism. This commitment to the public you serve is well acknowledged by the community at large and this has inspired a great sense of loyalty from your customers up and down the country." |
