Editors letter

Hello and Welcome
to the November issue of EM.

A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of joining up with some old friends and colleagues from many years ago. It was heartening to see how many made the effort to travel, but what was even more rewarding was the real sense of friendship that has stood the test of time and has never changed over the years. There were stories and jokes told from the start of the night to the end, as we caught up with what was going on in each others' lives today.

Working as a tight-knit group in ESB, and living within a short enough radius of our jobs, mean people can stay in touch more easily, but in the case of our recent gathering many had moved on to other work locations or had retired, yet the group pretty much never lost touch with one another.

This in itself is a testament of the people involved and the realisation that a job, particularly in ESB, is more than a job. Our reunion also made me realise how much work and the job we did together meant to so many of us and it was nice to see that everyone had many fond memories of our time together. Even the odd 'negative' brought a laugh - our lives have moved on and we can think about how times have changed.

It was a wonderful night of sharing great memories with great people and it was one of those opportunities that we all cherish and take with us for a long time to come.
