Funding enables IWA Camolin Outreach Art Group to continue

ESBhas sponsored the IWA Art Outreach Group in Camolin, Co Wexford to the tune of €4,000 to help towards the continuation of the Art.Thomas Byrne, from Inchicore, is a member of the IWA Outreach, Camolin Branch and attends art classes there each Friday.

After completing his electrical apprenticeship in 1996 in ESB Waterford, Tom was then transferred to Airton Road, Tallaght, and then to T.O.D. Inchicore. He continued his studies to become an electrical technician. He studied through a home study course with the help of Paddy Healy, Regional Technical College in Waterford, which he completed in 1998.

Sadly, Tom never got to put his qualification into practice due to a road traffic accident in October 1998 which has left him brain injured and wheelchair bound. He retired in 2000. Tom moved from Wicklow to Wexford a few years ago to live with his parents. He requested the sponsorship for the Art Group, as he has been part of it for the last couple of years and there are very few activities in Wexford for brain injured people.

15 to 20 people attend the class each week, each with their own disability, but the IWA had to announce that they had no more funding to keep the classes going. The very generous sponsorship is much appreciated by all of the art members of the Camolin IWA Outreach Group.

This funding will enable the Art Group to continue and they hope to put on an Art exhibition at a future date.
