Training perfection

Kp Egan from ESB Power Generation, West Offaly Power, is the man behind the Sliothar Hitter. It is through his involvement with hurling that he noticed the need for a more fun element included in the training process for children in order to develop a larger interest in the sport.

He has been in production for three years and in that period has sold to schools, GAA clubs and households throughout Ireland, the UK and in the USA. Over time the Sliothar Hitter has evolved and now an indoor version, which incorporates four activities, is available.

After using the product children have shown a dramatic improvement in hand-to-eye co-ordation, developed confi dence and viewed hurling as a fun activity. One of the most critical factors for success is that the equipment is suitable for all ages and for people of all abilities.

Dr Susan Crawford has promoted it for use by people with physical and intellectual abilities. The development has made it easier for thousands of people to participate in our national sport.
