Increase in Paternity Leave Following on from a recommendation from the Joint Equality Council, ESB is pleased to announce a further enhancement to Paternity Leave. Paternity Leave will be increased from 3 days to 5 days paid leave and there is also an option for the employee to take a further 5 days unpaid leave. This enhancement was recently approved by John Campion, Executive Director Human Resources and Corporate Affairs, who said that this initiative is all part of ESB's commitment to Life Work Balance. John said at the launch that fathers are now much more involved around the time of the birth of a child and that this additional leave should ease the burden on both parents and help them to achieve a better balance between the demands of working and family life. All male employees (who satisfy agreed conditions) may now claim this increased paternity leave when their spouse/partner gives birth, or on the adoption of a child, as and from the 1st October 2006. For more information, see the Equal Opportunities Intranet site or contact your local HR or Equal Opportunities Office. |
