ESB Independent Energy - Managing Energy Usage during Energy Awareness Week Coinciding with the Government's National Energy Efficiency Policy, "The Power of One", ESB Independent Energy held a number of events to highlight energy awareness amongst its customer base in the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. An energy advice book was issued to all customers' on a USB memory stick. The book details many energy efficiency measures that customers can implement to reduce consumption across a range of utility systems typically found in industrial and commercial premises such as compressed air, cooling, air conditioning, motive power and refrigeration. It also provides details on how to establish a programme of energy reduction to ensure that savings are achieved as well as information on ESBIE's Energy and environmental monitoring system ENERGYTRACKED. The book was launched by the Minister for Communications Marine and natural Resources Noel Dempsey T.D. and ESB Chief Executive Padraig McManus. The book will also be available to download from the ESBIE website. Also during the week ESBIE sent out over 50 energy awareness packs to some of its customers. Included in the packs were energy awareness posters, stickers, questionnaires, energy advice booklets and a number of CFL bulbs. In addition, ESBIE set-up and manned a number of exhibition stands in customer's office premises. The idea behind this was to promote energy awareness amongst the customers' staff and to help answer any questions that staff may have had regarding reducing energy. Finally, ESBIE staff were invited to participate in an energy awareness competition to focus on where ESBIE could reduce its own energy consumption at ESBIE offices in Santry. In addition, a new screen saver for PCs was launched offering energy savings tips, energy savings posters were placed around the office and an energy advice. | ||||
