Award for CIO Organisation at gala 'Oscar' night

The cio organisation was recently nominated for an Inspired IT Award in recognition for their implementation of Dual Data Centre Architecture for business critical IT applications, which was pioneered by the Market Opening IT Programme.

The approach has received widespread recognition within the IT industry as a ‘Best Practise' implementation of distributed SAN disk storage over Dual Data Centres, along with a comprehensive set of management procedures for performing routine application failovers between sites to prove ESB's readiness to recover from total loss of one of the Data Centres. A follow on article will describe the ESB's Dual Data Centre solution in more detail.

The solution received the Runner-Up Award in the Business Services category. Vivian Young (Manager IT Governance), Tony Keane (IT Technical Services Manager) and Greg Rogers (Solution Architect) accepted the award on behalf of the CIO Organisation at the recent Inspired IT Awards Gala Ball ceremony in Jury's Hotel, Dublin. The ceremony was attended by over 500 people representing most of the leading companies and institutions throughout Ireland, including a significant representation from the North of Ireland.
