Irish-language Resource Intranet Site Launched

Suíomh Inlín Acmhainne Gaeilge Seolta

An mhí seo feictear seoladh suíomh inlín nua d'oifig Acht na dTeangacha Oifigiúla (ATO). 'Sí aidhm an tsuímh ná 'bheith mar acmhainn d'fhoireann BSL a bhíonn ag pléigh le custaiméirí, a d'fhéadfaí iarradh orthu a seirbhís a chuir ar fáil trí mheán na Gaeilge.

Tháinig an ATO i bhfeidhm sa bhliain 2003 agus tá an BSL ag obair go dian ó shin chun cinntiú go gcomhlíonaimid dualgaisí an Achta. Seans gur thug tú faoi deara le déanaí go bhfuil ionsáití bhillí ar fad anois dátheangach agus ba cheart go mbeadh comharthaí dátheangacha á nochtadh cheana féin in oifigí.

Ceapadh Ceannaire Tionscadail, Treasa Ní Mhurchú, i mí na Feabhra agus tá sí ag déanamh idir chaidrimh ó shin leis na hAonaid Ghnó chun cabhrú leo a ndualgaisí a chomhlíonadh.

Forbraíodh an tsuíomh chun eolas agus treoir a thabhairt faoin reachtaíocht é féin agus dualgaisí gach Aonad Ghnó maidir leis na Rialacháin agus an 'Scéim' atá le teacht.

Ar an suíomh, tá cóipeanna aistrithe de litreacha coitianta a sheoltar chuig custaiméirí agus doiciméid úsáideacha eile le fáil gur féidir íoslódáil. Tá mír faoi Théarmaíocht úsáideach dóibh siúd gur mhaith leo a 'cúpla focal' a fheabhsú, le téarmaíocht a úsáidtear go minic ag beannú do chustaiméirí nó do chairde chomh maith le ainmneacha ranna BSL as Gaeilge.

Níos tábhachtaí fós, cuirfear ainmneacha ar fáil do dhaoine i ngach ceantar ghnó gur féidir dul i dteagmháil leo chun comhairle faoin Acht nó faoi phléigh le custaiméirí a fháil.

Tá fáilte roimh aiseolas faoi úsáideacht an tsuímh. Chun níos mó eolais a fháil faoin ATO, nó chun moltaí a dhéanamh faoin ábhar, féach ar an suíomh ar an Inlíon nó téigh i dteagmháil le Treasa.NiMhurchu@esb.ie

This month will see the launch of a new intranet site of the office of the Official Languages Act (OLA). The site is intended to be a resource for staff dealing with customers who may be requested to provide that service in the Irish Language.

The OLA came into effect in July 2003 and ESB has been working actively to ensure compliance with its obligations. You may have noticed recently that all Bill inserts are now bi-lingual and signage in offices should already have begun to appear bilingually. A Project Leader, Treasa Ní Mhurchú was appointed in February and she has been liaising with the Business Units to help them meet their obligations.

The site has been developed to provide information and guidance on the legislation itself and the obligations of each Business Unit with regard to the Regulations and the forthcoming 'Scheme'.

On the site are translated copies of letters most often sent to customers and other useful documents which can be downloaded from the site as needed. There is a section on Useful Terminology for those who would like to improve their 'Cúpla Focal' giving the terms generally used when greeting customers or friends and also the names of all ESB departments in Irish.

Most importantly the names of people in each area who can be contacted for advice on the Act or dealing with customers through Irish will be made available.

Feedback on the usefulness of the site would be welcomed. For more information on the OLA, or to make suggestions on the content, view the site on the Intranet or contact Treasa.NiMhurchu@esb.ie.
