Hello and Welcome
to the October issue of EM.

I would like to take this opportunity to remind you all of our Christmas card competition. It has been hugely successful over the past number of years, with donations from the sale of the cards going to our in-house charity ElectricAid. Many of you are aware of how, both nationally and internationally, the work of ElectricAid has helped so many good causes. In today's uncertain financial climate, assistance is more important than ever, needed funds will probably not be as available to these projects, from other bodies, as they were in the past.

Not alone are you helping the vital work of ElectricAid but you are being given a terrific opportunity to have your work, whether photography or artwork, reach a public stage. For children in particular it is a fantastic showcase if you are successful. It is no mean feat to have your work sent around the world on a Christmas card and what a great start for those of you who might like to do something in this area in the future.

For adults, we are well aware how digital photography has progressed and developed over the years. Many of you now are accomplished photographers, taking that ‘opportunistic' shot! This is evidenced by the quality of photographs submitted for our hugely popular staff photography page.

Make sure you get your entries in and I would ask you to bring it to the attention of your families, encouraging them to take the opportunity and chance to profile their work as well as helping a wonderful charity.

  Bernie Healy
