Management Development Programme

Over the past number of years, a number of middle management development programmes have been rolled out across the different directorates within ESB. In October 2008 Customer Supply & Group Services launched a management development programme to support the development of middle managers and team leaders across the Directorate (including ICT Group, Customer Supply, Shared Services, Pensions, Contracts and Energy Services.)

Following a detailed procurement process, Torc Consulting Group was appointed to facilitate the programme which was delivered in Killashee House in Naas. The programme was of 5 days duration run over 2 modules with a break of 5 - 6 weeks between modules, during which time participants were required to complete a team based work project, which addressed a specific ESB business issue. In all 203 staff completed the programme which finished at the end of April this year.

A key part of the programme involved business inputs from the ESB Executive Director team, the CS&GS senior teams and other senior managers across different areas of ESB.

Feedback from the programme was very positive and it met its original objectives very effectively. These included providing a real opportunity for participants to develop their leadership skills and their understanding of key ESB business issues as well as increasing their own self awareness. The project work provided an excellent learning opportunity as well as yielding valuable business outputs and results.
