ESB Cross Business Safety Project Arisk Assessment Improvement Project which is part of the EDT Safety Work Programme for 2009 / 2010 is being launched. The purpose of this project is to improve the use of Risk Assessment across ESB as part of our objective to reduce LTIs to zero. One of ESB’s core beliefs is that all unsafe acts and incidents are preventable. This project is sponsored by Pat O’Doherty, Executive Director, Power Generation. The project is linked to European Safety Week, the theme of which is Risk Assessment. The overall project will proceed through to the end of 2010 with a launch during European Safety Week (19th to 23rd October 2009). The project was approved by the EDT on 29th July 2009. Each business unit will be working to identify areas for improvement that are relevant to that business unit. However, sharing of information and “best practice” by the project team will hopefully result in common improvement themes emerging. This project is one of two cross company EDT safety projects for 2009. The other project relates to Contractor Safety and is being sponsored by Michael McNicholas, Executive Director ESB International. The project steering group is being led by Nicholas Tarrant and includes John O’Gorman, Richard Babikian and Marina Hunt. The project working group includes Killian O’Shea and Jim Corcoran, ESBI, Brian Hegarty and Mark King, ESB Networks, Jim Murphy, Eddie Reynor and Philip Darcy, Customer Supply & Group Services, Donal Lehane, Power Generation and Pat Gilbride, Project Manager. The working group is tasked with assessing the current status of risk assessment implementation in each business unit, documenting best practices and sharing these across the organisation as well as deciding on where to target improvement efforts. The co-operation and support of all ESB staff will be vital to the success of the project. |
