DIT Conferrals at UCD
ESB Staff at UCD Safety & Health at Work presentation

A group of twenty eight staff from several ESB functions were presented with Certificates and Diplomas as part of the UCD Safety & Health at Work course at the O'Reilly Hall, Belfield on Saturday 1st October 2005.

The Certificate course is a recognised qualification in safety and health in the workplace by the Health and Safety Authority for safety practitioners and is the first part leading to Diploma and Degree level at UCD. Most of the ESB students attended the courses at the Belfield Campus in Dublin, but three Tarbert staff actually achieved the award by attending Tralee DIT each Friday morning for a satellite link up to UCD and other participating colleges. After participants submitted assignments and projects on safety and health in ESB functions, the participants completed exams last May and were successful in achieving the award. This year, two ESB students received a Diploma in Safety & Health at Work. They are David Ussher from ESB Contracts at Harolds Cross and Michael Doyle from ESB Training, Portlaoise.

Certificates were awarded to:
From ESB Networks, Pat Barrett, Rosbrien, Stephen Caffrey, Contracting Partners, Leopardstown, Catherine Clancy, NS, South Lotts Road, Mossie Finn, Network Projects, Nenagh, John Henson, NP, Athlone, John Murphy, Asset Management (now with ESB Telecoms), Trevor Noble, Technical Development, Clanwilliam House, Barry O'Donoghue, NS, Tralee, John O'Hanlon, NS, South Lotts Road, Geoff Prendergast, Contracting Partners, Castlebar.

As we approach European Safety Week, from 24th to 28th October, this initiative is part of the promotion of Safety throughout ESB and will continue to raise awareness in safety and health issues, thereby helping to make ESB work activities safer for everyone. Congratulations to all.
