Completion of Wholesale Capabilities Programme in ESB Customer Supply A major programme designed to prepare for changes in the wholesale electricity environment has been completed in ESB Customer Supply. The Wholesale Capabilities Development Programme was designed to support the Energy Trading and Regulation (ET&R) and Financial Control Teams in their increasingly complex activities. The Programme delivered enhanced customer demand forecasting and purchase contract management, as well as a more structured approach to risk management and data management. The Programme Manager, Ciaran Doran, said "We adopted a phased approach to the development of capabilities, with this work designed to deliver the business requirements for successful operation in 2006 and 2007." As part of the programme, a number of projects were delivered over the last 18 months: A Demand Forecasting Project implemented a new Customer Demand Forecasting solution. Mick Noone was the Senior Business Lead and Cormac Bland of IT Solutions was the Project Manager - with Lodestar Solutions Ltd. supplying both the software and implementation services. A Contracts Settlement System Project implemented the revised processes and systems to support the settlement of all of Customer Supply's external wholesale purchases. The solution involved a sophisticated "bespoke" system built by ESB IT Solutions. Ann Ruddy was Project Manager, and Niall Fahey of IT Solutions managed the software development. A Risk Management Project, managed by Edel O'Gara, has resulted in a more formalised and structured approach to risk management including a Risk Management Committee for ESB Customer Supply. A Data Management Project has delivered enhanced data management and streamlined monthly business process. Killian Morgan of Customer Supply and Liz O'Connor of IT Solutions managed this project. With the completion of these projects, the team involved will now move on to focus on preparations for the Single Electricity Market which is due to "go live" in November 2007. The new programme, known as the Customer Supply All Island Market Programme (AIM), commenced in July 2006. |
