Sustainable Festivities

The biannual bergin International Wood Festival started in 2006 and it promotes the use of natural wood for architecture and construction. Ireland has been represented at the last two festivals in the form of; Aidan Burke, Michael Loyns, Eugene Boyle and Oliver McCormack.

They are keen to acknowledge the assistance of ‘The National Council for Forestry Research and Development’ (COFORD). All of those involved would hope to develop their ideas further and hope to see similar initiatives in Ireland to stimulate the debate around the use of new materials and construction methods.
