Customer Supply brings Energy Conservation to life ESB Customer Supply is currently embarking upon a major drive to promote Energy Efficiency. Rather than concentrating on a week long campaign, as has been done in the past with Energy Awareness Week, it is now planned to spread the campaign throughout the year. Throughout this current campaign we are illustrating that by being Energy Efficient we are also helping to reduce the CO2 emissions that contribute to climate change. Hence the correlation between Energy Efficiency and the Environment in the imagery. One of the first Energy Efficiency initiatives of 2007 was the Spring CFL campaign. It was carried out with Phillips and Tesco and proved very successful, resulting in huge return in sales of CFL's. A similar lagging jacket promotion which is just complete also proved very successful. This was a pilot campaign carried out with Dublin Homebase Stores and Keating lagging jackets. It involved producing a bill insert for Dublin customers, a radio campaign and point-ofsale material for the stores. During the months of September and October there will be a national press and on-line advertising campaign for Residential and Business customers. The overall theme for the residential campaign is 'Energy Conservation' with the primary focus on the residential on-line appliance calculator. The calculator is a practical way of enabling customers to become actively involved in energy conservation at home. It helps customers to understand what different appliances cost to run by enabling them to compare the consumption impact of using appliances in different ways ( e.g. the smaller hot plate instead of the larger one, the 40 degree wash instead of the 60 degree, the use of CFL light bulbs etc). The current 'Energy at Home' newsletter which will issue to 1.9m customers during September and October also has 'Energy Conservation', as its theme. The focus again will be on directing customers to the various energy efficiency tools and information on the ESB Customer Supply website. The campaign for business customers focuses on 'Energy Management' as opposed to energy conservation and it will be supported with other energy management promotions such as an on-line 'Warehouse Lighting Guide'. The aim of this campaign is to encourage business customers to download advice on how to implement an energy management plan from the website.
