Encouraging the future through the past The students of the Catherine McAuley primary school in Dublin's Baggot Street exhibited their various works of art in the school during the last days of the summer term. The artworks, which are all based around the collection of the Georgian house museum, are part of an ongoing educational partnership between No. 29 and the school. The students visit the museum on several occasions during the academic year for inspiration and create art around specific artifacts. The workshop is based on the current primary school curriculum. The work is then exhibited for parents and visitors in the final week of school term. The collaboration is facilitated by the school's innovative art teacher Padraig Parle and the ESB staff in No. 29. In opening the exhibition, Vincent Sheridan, well known wildlife artist, praised both the school and the ESB for the initiative. He described the work as giving a new voice and perspective on older articles and artifacts. This is the fourth year in succession that the art initiative has been undertaken. The staff of No. 29 were also praised by both the school and parents for the time and commitment they give to the initiative. There is little doubt that the works of art on display around the school walls are a sign of some great works to come. ESB Shared Services |
