ElectricAid Project of the Month One Irishman, five wells, and a small miracle in rural Kenya Jim Caulfield, an Irishman living in Jersey, is a man on a mission - to bring basic infrastructure and a measure of human dignity to the rural people of Oyugis, Kenya, whom he has come to know and love over the years. Jim runs KWOT (Kenya Women's & Orphans' Trust), a registered charity, and spends a lot of each year digging wells. In 2005 ElectricAid sponsored KWOT, and their local partner organisation the JAM Community Integrated Project, with a small grant of €3,625 to cover the costs of pumps and plates for five village wells. The local community contribution was €500 - plus a great deal of sweat and labour to dig the wells. The project was completed successfully, and the benefits for each community include:
Jim Caulfield writes: "We had a meeting with the Chief of the area and he has asked me to relay his most grateful thanks to you - because your contribution has transformed their lives". Need we say more - except thank you for making this simple miracle possible. ElectricAid Monthly Draw Winner This month's winner is Stephen Ryan, Networks, Gracedieu, Waterford.
